Hey all

Lancer 402 is running way rich, plugs are black, black smoke out the back, and running rough. I have no fault codes at all and I think I should have 54 or whatever one pertains to locked rich.
I unplug the O2 sensor and still have no fault codes. I checked the fuel pressure and it is OK, 50 psi.
Any ideas??
Thanks
Andy

Does it do it from initial (cold) startup? If yes, look into the MAP sensor and hoses.

If no, look into the O2 sensor.

OK, makes sense. It doesn't appear to do it on a cold start up. I assume this is when the system is not in closed loop yet. But when it goes into closed loop it starts. I also tryed it with the O2 sensor unplugged and it is the same with no fault codes.
I am having trouble getting the darn O2 sensor out. I am out of town on business this week and letting it soak with penatrating oil, but it appears the head is coming off this weekend.

Thanks for the advice.
Andy
