I received a head I was told is non-cross drilled, I just wanted to make sure I get the right head gasket for this baby. I have pics of the underside of the head, so I was hoping someone could clue me in as to whether or not it's cross drilled. I also have a head gasket for this head, and the coolant passages appear to line up properly, but my buddy gave it to me and said he had the parts guy reference a 89 2.5 TI motor, but the head I have is from a 2.2 Lancer Shelby (TII?). The part number of the head gasket is 5281065 (I believe) Anyways, here's the pic,

See those triangular holes between each cylinder? Notice the 3 small round holes next to the ones on the back side? If those 3 round holes go into the head at about 30° angle, then they're cross drills. If they just go straight in, they're not.

Ok, the tiny, about 1/8" holes tucked in between the cylindars? Yes, I'm pretty sure they're angled (the head it at home, I'm at school).

Matching the gasket I have up to the head, all of the passages seem to line right up. Now, whether those passages are angled or not, does it make a difference what gasket I have?
