if my cam timming is off a tooth would it cause me to detonate alot? around 10 psi? after reading a book i have on turbo's it says that cams can change the compersion ratio on a turbo'd engine.. so if my cam timing was advanced a tooth (or retarted not shure..) would it cause me to have higher compersion and lotsa detonation... i have a nice IC and running 91 octane... still detonating at 10 psi!

line the crank on zero through the bell housing.pull the upper timing cover and check the marks...the 2 arrows shoul be pointing where the cam cap seperates.as for the intermediate shaft i ussualy take off the distributor cap then pull the dist out and look into the hole and see if the 2 notches are parrelel to the crank ie straight across left to right.hope this helps
