when i rev up the engine from the engine bay, i can see the starter sparking off of something. and i turned the car off stuck my hand back there to see if anything was touching and didnt feel anything. but i started moving the heatshield up and down and it started sparking like no other (with the car off). so what could be the problem??

yeah, i just went out there and was looking at it. my thought is that when iwas putting the head on, i kinked a wire or tore through the insulation and the wire is arcing. ugh, its just 1 more problem after another :-(

problem is, i cant fix this for awhile. i have to make my car emission legal by tomorrow, and *if* i pass, the car goes back with me to college till xmas break when ill have time to fix it. so would this be alright to drive on for about 3weeks? it doesnt seem like it would start a fire cuz there's nothing to catch on fire down there.

I bet it will take less time to fix it than you have spent posting here. Just felt I had to crack the whip on you!
