I bought my 1987 csx as a roller so now that I'm trying to get it started I'm not sure everything is right. It won't crank when the key is turned. Anyone have a schematic for the starter system?

No I bought it from a friend who's getting out of turbododges. That guy in Burleson does have some 87-89's but I've never been able to deal with him. He's about as flaky as they come. If you agree to a price with him you better pay him right then and get the car then or the deal can change.

what exaactly does your car do when you turn the key.... does it click, do lights come on etc....

More info is needed..

Your schematic is fairly simple.... positive from battery to stater, Negative to block.... ignition to solinoid etc....

NAJ has really helped outNAJ has really helped out
PM sent with the starter system schematics.
All models are the same 85-89 except 87 SC.

2 power sources to the starter relay...
1)Constant Battery
2)Switched Ignition from the Ignition Switch only in the Start Position

Ground is a ground wire on the transaxle on manual trans or thru the neutral safety switch on auto trans.

At the starter the + battery cable should be a constant 12 volts.
The solenoid wire should have 12 volts from the relay only in the Start position.

Thanks NAJ! Turns out the Neutral safety switch was bad. It's tough troubleshooting a car that's been modified without schematic.
