Re: oil pressure guage is wrong

Yeah ignore them, and buy good quality aftermarket ones. The stock ones are only a generalization of what your motor is doing.
Or go find another cluster out of a donor car.
I had a 91, but a V6 same cluster though, same prob, went to full auto meter ones, and had to train myself to ignore the stock ones, most stock gauges on most cars are not that accurate anyway.

Just my two cents.
Good luck

Re: oil pressure guage is wrong

If you want the dash gauge to read higher, I would try another cluster OR remove the cluster tear the clear plastic widow off, and pull the needle very carefully and rotate the needle and stick it back on.

You may want to have the engine at idle while reinstalling the needle so its in the correct spot.

Re: oil pressure guage is wrong

If the gauge moves full sweep the problem is not in the gauge, the problem would be with the sender or excessive resistance in the wiring.

this is more than likely the problem. Between my 3 engines i have 2 with dead water temp sensors and 2 with flaky oil pressure senders. I would check those and the wiring before you go blaming the gauges.

Or just throw on some aftermarket gauges, which will have brand new sensors and wiring.
