Been reading about the PT lifter swap. And need a few questions answered. What is the RANGE of TOTAL TICKNESS of the shims ( looking for the spread from like total range of like .096"-.125" that was just an example) I bought some GR8 that were .096-.098" is that to far off to use?? I read an old post on moparturbo.com with a range of .125" +/- .010"
Also how big of a sin is it to LIGHTLY lightly grind the outer diameter ( talking about .006")

I send people to onerippinturbo for washers, I'm retired lol.

People need to read the FAQ here or on boosted-mopar on the PTs. The FAQ I have here is the best, the one on BM is more going through lifter changes and so on. More details than you need.

first, you run 2 Fastener washers under each lifter. Not some Home Depot thing you found. The Fastener washers have a tight grade 8 tolerance. Cheap washers are all over the place and don't fit in the hole right changing the height.

Second you can run 3 washers as well if there is slop. But it is risking oil pressure bleeding doing it. I have ran with 3 and others have, but best to do it "by the book" if you can.

Thanks for the information
I just ordered a box from Fasteners Inc That will give me enough to do 6 heads (I had 2 heads to do) The part # as per the POPE is 0945.025.0.20.
As for the "HomeDepot thing"..the washer that I bought were from an industral supply house grade L9/ which is stronger than grade 8 . But I was concerened about the thickness. That being said went with the shims the pope says to work correct. Thanks

Fasteners posted here on the washer too BTW
http://www.turbododge.com/forums/f4/...ml#post1247104

These washers fit snug, to the extent they press the bottom one into the bore. At one point I used a grade 5 but there tolerance was off by diameter and they wouldn't sit flush in the bore. The bore bottom isn't square it is chamfered and the Fastener washer fits this and sits flat. If these were not available anymore it would be worth the trouble to look at doing 1 shim or different washers. With the right stuff sold there is no reason to go off track.

If I was to make a single shim I would aim between 2-3 shims at .150" as some heads aren't machined right and the little bit helps take up the slack. .120" though is stock height for a PT lifter.
