88 T1 Shadow, What turbos can it use?

My turbo gave out on my Shadow and was looking for what turbos I could use on it. I've been looking around the internet and it appears that I can only use another stock mitsubishi turbo unless I want to add an intercooler.
So that leaves me with getting junkyard turbos from 88-94's Shadows correct?

Easiest for you would be another Mitsu turbo. They are on all Non-intercooled cars from '88 to '92, not just Shadows. Only difference is your '88 has the smaller swingvalve and downpipe(2.25 inch), '89-later went to 2.5 inch. Either swap your old swingvalve over, or get the downpipe from the donor car if it's '89-later.

You can use the factory Garrett turbos off the '86-'89 Shelby & Dodge intercooled cars. Just a set of oil and coolant lines for the Garrett is all you need. The same swingvalve/downpipe rule applies to these also, except you won't be able to swap your Mitsu swingvalve if you happen to get an '89-later Garrett as they are not interchangeable.

This Garrett was also used on the '87-back non-intercooled cars, but requires some "modifications" to work, as that Garrett was designed to work with the "suck through" intake system.

+1 good stuff except -
the 'swingvalve' on an 88 mitsu TI *will not* fit an 89+ mitsu TI..
the bolt pattern is slightly different..

so an 'upgrade' for yur 88 would be an 2.5" SV 89-92 mitsu along with 2.5" downpipe.

a 'TII garrett' would also be an upgrade,
offering more flow capacity than the mitsu -with a slower "spool-up";
an '86-8 would have the 2.25" SV,
and a (rare) '89 would have the desirable 2.5" SV ,.,
or you can buy a 2.5" (or 3") swingvalve from our vendors
