hey i bought a AEM washable cone filter..it is almost exactly like a K and N. Now im wondering do i just wash it with soapy water then use pressured air and blow it out or is there a special solevent to use?

after i finish washing it should i oil it? I cant tell if it needs to be oil?

thanks, Joe

i used my dishwasher. lol. but it was real dirty so i let it soak and then dried it by towell and by compressor. i don't think you need any oils or fluids, mine works great without any.

NEVER EVER USE A COMPRESSOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Use a small brush to get the big crap off.
Get a bucket.
FIll it with water and degreaser.
Soak it run the water through it Not against it make sure its inside out not outside in. So ust like scoop some water and let it run out the sides.
Use the hose a little bit and put a little pressure on the fitler to get the small stuff out. Were talking like a slight push nothing major not enought to run a sprinkler.
Air compressors are the worsth thing you can use on an gauze or foam airfilter they do work okay for paper but they will rip apart a k@N or a foam filter like nothing.

O I forgot to add that you want to let it dry by itself.
So just just set it on the workbench overnight.
You dont want to blowdry it or once agian use the air compressor.

AEM must sell the oil. If not K&N Purple would work. I get the K&N oil at Carquest. You just wet both ends of the cotton and let it set over night and it wicks up. What color is the AEM? DaveJ

Foam Filters = Foam Filter Oil. the stuff you get at a bike shop designed for atv's works the best.

K@N or any other gauze type filter = K@N filter OIL there are other makes but I stick with K@n ill let everyone know what the others are like when I try them
