I have an 87 new yorker automatic. Before I got some guy got in it and messed up the shifter. Now to get it to come out of park you have to push on a lever. I only did this once and now I can't figure it out. Can someone tell me which one to push on.

Second question I cannot get the power window to go up. It just worked the other night I got it to go down. But when I turn the key on Only the radio comes on and the power locks work. I tried a diffrent battery from a good car just to make sure and that didn't do anything. Could this be related to the shifter problem?

i had the same problem with a 89 dodge caravan and check where the wires for the door locks and the p/w come from the main car to the doors. The covering on the wires should look like an accordian, The wires located in there sometimes crack and break from opening and closing the door. And no the shifter and the power windows have nothing in common.

I repaired all of the wires in the van, there should be enough slack to repair all of the wires in there. If that is indeed the problem. Hope this helps
