I just removed the balance shafts and replaced the 2.5 pan with a 2.2 one.
Now I have no oil pressure. I purchased the pan and pickup off a member and am not sure if it is the right pickup. Is a 2.2CB pickup round, or is it square like a 2.5. And yes the balance shaft hole is plugged.

you can take the spark plugs out and use something like a chisel to spin the intermediate shaft
or unhook the coil wire and put the gas pedal to the floor
w/ the turbo drain un hooked and crank the ignition to see when the oil comes out

.... or, just take a 3/8" tube w/funnel and use it to feed some oil into the pump through the oil filter housing. Take out the filter and slip one end of the tube into the bottom slot in the housing. Pour some oil into the tube then fill the filter about 3/4 full of oil ... replace filter.

The few times I have done it I found slipping the timing belt off and putting an air ratchet on the intermetiate shaft will yield PLENTY of oil pressure. I was able to get 60psi with this method. Don't forget to mark the intermediate shaft position on the belt, OR retime when done.

Sorry it took a couple of day's to get back. Undergoing chemotherapy treatments and some day's don't feel like doing much.
This thing has got me crazy. Dropped pan, brand new pickup tube, packed pump with grease,no oil pressure. Took off oil filter, turned moter with starter, not a drop. This thing has got me baffled.
One question, are you guys turning the intermediate shaft in the car and if so how?
