Finally got the head gasket changed on my spirit. Everything went super well but I have a small issue I think? My car temp gauge runs at 1/4 gauge at idle and very slowly creeps to halfway till the fan kicks on and cools back down to 1/4, But when Im going down the highway the temp gauge almost makes it back down to "C" on the gauge... Im not complaining but I think the culprit is I drilled a 1/8" hole in the 180 deg thermostat... I read on the dodge garage that it should be 1/16" hole... but If the thermostat is open the hole shouldnt matter?

sometimes the cooling system needs to cycle hot and cool a couple times until all the air is out of the system. how soon after the HG changed did you start noticing this 'problem'?

that hole is lil big.... essentially you've created a by-pass in the t-stat. personally if the heat is good and stays nice and warm, keep it. runnin cool is better than hot....

put some cardboard in front of the radiator, like me.

You have a 180 degree thermostat, plus a 1/16" hole in it. That is a recipie for running cold.

Actually, It's pretty dang cold out this week 46 deg F. And my heater is blistering hot. I guess I really won't know untill it warms up (if it ever does)
