I am just asking some basic question just make sure I am on the right path. So the 3.5 is the Mitsubishi Diamante block correct? Isn't that the tall-deck motor? What about mounting the trans? I thought that the 6G7 motors used a different type of trans than the 523's ect. Would I have to custom mount that one as well? I am also thinking that I would have to get custom axles. Nothing fancy, maybe have the axles that come with the trans recut and splined so it could fit in the l-body hub. It would be kick ass if the v6 motors just dropped right onto the 4 cylinder transmissions, but that would be way to lucky

yes, the 2.5 can be found in the later diamante/montero IIRC. it IS a taller deck motor than the 3.0, but the trans bolt pattern is the same so an A543 WILL bolt up to the motor with some slight tweaking. this also means that you dont have to go about getting custom axles and the like either.

read this thread at club3g.com, LOTS of info on the 3.5:

a 300WHP v6 duster would bo a nice sleeper

i have a friend here at school that should be able to fix the body panels and possibry give it a paint job

"Those cars usaully run mid 14's stock with that engine (and 5speed). But what the hell is a Cali Spec engine"

cali spec had different headers, 2 pre-cats and one main cat, 4 o2 sensors, fed spec had better headers, one cat and 2 o2 sensors.
I have a customer with this engine in a 2002 Eclipse. She has an SDS Vortec Supercharger running 10 psi and put down 287 at the wheels. Not too shabby. I just got done putting on a 15psi pulley/tensioner and a meth injection kit. The car still has stock pistons. I told her the pistons need changing and she knows it. I haven't put it on the dyno yet though. The electronics are out getting a firmware upgrade. I'll post the results when the dyno is back up though.

that custom injector wiring is such a PITA!
I had to to alot of custom wiring when me and a friend swapped a 1JZGTE
(japanese twin turbop supra motor) into his regular supra to a custom harness that ran to the ingitor chip and the ecu let me tell you its not fun!

Congrats on the swap and good luck with the fuel and spark!

lol, i now know the TRUE meaning of the phrase "wiring gremlins"

yeah the wiring wasnt the most fun, but the REAL fun comes when the unsuspecting Honduhs take me for a bone stock 3.0 or 2.2/2.5 and get their doors blasted off

lol wow that's a nice swap man. Good job, I love the 6g72 dohc and sohc motors. I drive a 93 dodge stealth es dohc :-) honestly you should be able to get a mid 14's run maybe low 14 with an amazing launch and good tires. Those motors are definately tq monsters unlike the chrysler version.

yea it's not like running on a street, i dunno about up there but there's nice dollar general parking lot here I used to go out to at 3-4am and it had all new tarmac so it'd be foggy and i'd practice launching on that.
