im in need of a custom hi-pressure power steering hose, but im not sure where i can get one. i have a banjo bolt on the 24v PS pump and need to replace the hard line going into the rack (both had those one time crimp deals). anyone have an idea or company that might be able to do this?

I'd dig out the yellow pages and look up the local industrial hydraulics johnnies, take a stroll down there and see what they can come up with.

If you're in the country, try a tractor repair.

well, all BAD news unfortunately. i tried a hose place one town over, they cant find the fittings at ALL. A taylor rental 3 towns over does hoses with aeroquip connectors, sent it to their supply warehouse, no can do there either. the catch is they are automotive fittings, the one on the PS pump is a banjo fitting that is an M16 - 1.5 thread, and im not sure what the size/threading on the ones that go into the stock P-body steering rack are, they are something like an M16 or M14 (one is larger than the other) and both are a 1.5 thread. anyone know where i could get some fittings or adapters? if i cant find anything i might buy the eclipse hi-pressure hose and MAKE an adapter to go into the steering rack or something.

[rant]
ok why the **** cant someone make PS connectors for custom hose for CUSTOM applications? not the standard chevy/ford v8 motors mind you, but REAL custom applications. i mean seriously, summit, earls and all those other companies out there cater 98% towards the v8 crowd and theres like jack SHIT for the real one-off stuff. jeeze.....
[/rant]
ok, just had to get that out...

switch to a different power steering pump. it will likely be alot easier to fab a bracket than come up with the non-standard hose.

alot of the smaller ford (aspire, escort) and gm (geo metro, storm) have small pumps about the size of a closed fist. a friend put one on his merkur and it is working quite well.

the stock 24v pump is about that size, maybe a hair bigger. im going to call the hose shop and see if i buy the mitsu line and the dodge line they can mate the two with a coupler or something. (just thought of that ) downside is the mitsu line is $75 at advance...

If the banjo fitting is the same size as the TD ones, just get a 88 Shadow ps hose, they came either banjo or regular.

Your hose shops are idiots, they reuse YOUR ends and add compression fittings and new hose. I get them made up all the time if you can't buy them anymore. The only problem is there has to be a few inches of straight metal pipe for the compression fitting to grab.

sounds like. but hey, CT is the insurance capitol of the country (or so i heard) so what use do insurance ppl have for custom crap? :-p

i think im gonna go with the mitsu pipe and get the dodge one and get em mated somehow. Autozone has the hi-press. dodge line for $17, but it doesn't list the hard pipe for the low pressure end going into the steering rack....
