ok so i own two daytonas. one is a 1988 wit ha 2.5 non-turbo and the other one is a 1989 daytona cs competition model with a 2.2 turbo intercooled. now in the 88 one i blew three head gaskets. in the 89 ive blown two. i cant seem to fiqure out why. on all ocasions i got a machine shop to chec kthe heads for warping and cracks. every time except once they were fine(had to shave the head once on the 89). all the shops i have talked to are stumped on why it keeps on happaning. should i upgrade to a better head gasket if so what should i use.

thanks.

I had this same problem when I used felpro head gaskets, I blew 3 on my n/a motor in my van. I went to the dealer and bought a factory gasket and I haven't blown it yet. I have about 30,000 on it right now. I was lucky to get 10,000 out of the felpro's.

Get a Mopar 4452005 headgasket, and ARP head studs. About the only thing that will blow that combo would be over heating or a lean-out.

Get the MP gasket and MP bolts for the motor you have. 2.2 T1 or n/a uses the gasket ending in 005, and the 2.2 intercooled or 2.5 T1 uses the gasket ending in 006

I'd suggest get ARP head studs. That way you won't have to worry about incorrect torquing of head bolts, or them stretching and having to replace them every time as well. Do it once and do it right. Also go with MP headgasket, felpros don't seem to last on our cars. If you go with ARP head studs make sure to torque them to ARP torque specifications.
