uhh, I'm guessing 909 has something to do with the selling company's name because it looks just like a 782 fastburn to me. I understand that chrysler sold the machining equipment for our motors to china where they are still being produced. If it's "brand new" I'm wondering why they say it was machined. If it's not really rebuilt, then my guess is it's an old head that's been sitting around for 15-20 years or it's Chinese. And if they make cylinder heads like they make dog food........

The buyer said they are a brand new head, cast in china and final machined in the states. I dunno, but I think I'm going to buy one. I'll let you guys know what I think of it when I get it.

my question is, if dodge sold the casting machine to China then what would make it cheap if its the same machine as the one that built ours?

You need people who can actually operate the machinery effectively. Quality control issues, etc. They can skimp on that easily.

Link? More Info? I'd really like to get a new head. I don't care what people say about those "between the seat" cracks in 2.2/2.5 heads, a crack is a crack and once started, will only get larger.

The thing is.... show me a 2.2/2.5 head that doesn't have cracks between the seats. I'm sure there are some, but I am very much not alone when I say they've been there for tens of thousands of miles and nothing has come of it. If they did get bigger over time, they'd be like the Grand Canyon by now.

But yea, they definitely are not getting any smaller on their own.

I dunno, maybe I'm just anal retentive, but cracks=bad to me. I'm familiar with the "bulletin" Chrysler released about the cracking, as my brother turned wrenches at a Dodge dealership several years ago (when the 2.2/2.5 were still being used in new cars). He says the same thing you do...."Use the damn head!!!", but I hate the notion of spending several hundreds of dollars rebuilding a cracked head.

If your going ebay try eBay Store - J and C Cylinder Head Exchange: Rebuilt GM GM Imports, Rebuilt Chrysler AMC Jeep I have seen some of there fast burn heads and that are not bad. I do not think the are listing any on ebay right now but I know they have them, just give them a call. Reman heads are a good idea sometimes because they have been heat cycled so they so potential for not cracking.
