overboost:
it's a 2.5 to 2.2 swap. he must change cpu. the 88 have defferent wirings than 93 unit..

no he has both engines available to him a 2.2 or 2.5. if he uses the 2.5 it will not matter. if he uses the 2.2 (dakotas never came with one) he can run it it will just run rich. the ecu does not care what year block it is he just needs to re-use his accessories from the 1993.

Yes, I thought about that. I have a 1964 Dodge 440 (Body designation) with a solid polyhead 318. Gee that would be a monster with a 4 BBL Holley and headers, huh?

Also, I have a 1965 Chrysler New Yorker 4 door hardtop with a 413. That would be a monster in a Dakota as well. Is anyone interested in buying wither of the old cars?

Mine had a 2.2 Carb'd engine. In 1989 they switched to a 2.5 as the 2.2 was underpowered and blah, blah, blah. It's all good as we all get somethings confused from time to time. I wish the old 426 Hemi was the standard engine in every Dodge..... with dual turbos....

the local ChryCo service manager has a '94 4cyl Dak with a 440/727; running high 12s; stock 'small' rear end !! 3.92 posi

but, even better would be a 5.7 HEMI !!

PS I know where you can get one CHEAP !
