Ok, so to solve my dipstick ejection issues (with my car, pervert) i needed to rig up a catch can of sorts...so off to walmart i went looking for...somthing, didnt know what, but i knew when i saw it i would know....so i was wandering around, minding my own buisness when i noticed a jar of "goobers"...the peanut butter and jelly pre mixed stuff. being hungry as well i decided i would use that. here's the results....oh, and wasnt hungry anymore since i made 15 sandwiches with it.

heh ... (shakes head) ... now that's resourceful.
Keep an eye on that cotton though. I didn't have much luck filtering the VC. After it got saturated it would restrict air flow too much. I just use a SS scrubby now.

If your thristy and need a boost buy a metal energy bottle and punch a hole in the top and stick a hose down in it. Put a hose clamp on the back side of the cap. Sand and polish it and you got a custom overflow bottle. Pic of the first try.

it isnt cotton, its poly fill , i think it should do a good job of absorbing (read trapping) any oil and as it saturates, it should settle, then just remove, clean, and add more poly...i have a TON of the stuff laying around from old speaker boxes so thats cheap...lol, and the "filter" on the outlet nipple is 8 layers of cheese cloth, so that shouldnt saturate much, and oil mist that gets that far should go through it i think....did a bunch of driving today, several wot pulls to about 100 mph, and not even a hint of oil in the can...or out of the dipstick tube for that matter, not even a drop running off the bottom of the motor, and i cant EVER remember not having a drip from somewhere since i bought the car....

Weld suck on the pipeing since the pipe is stainless and the wire I used wasn't.

Looks good. I did the same thing but a little simpler. I inserted the hose through holes in the lid to the depth I wanted. No brass fittings. Then I used silicone to seal the holes around the hose. Also I put a copper brillo pad at the bottom of the jar. I really haven't collected as much gunk as I thought I would have in the past 3 months.

lol, i believe the word you were looking for was "custom"....but i agree to a point too....function over form though...and really the only thing seperating it from ghetto to basically an aftermarket kit, is the jelly jar....eventually ill replace it with a metal can of some sort, but i couldnt find one that looked like it would work, i was pressed for time since i wanted the car on the road, and i was hungry...

I'm still unsure of the hoses. Basically I keep the stock pcv setup including the valve. The only change I make is I take the pipe that goes from the pcv to the airbox and divert it through a catch can first, then to the airbox. Is this correct?
Question #2 is there a check valve in the hose that goes from the pcv valve to the intake manifold?

You can run the pvc valve then a hose to the can then straight to the intake.
That side only sees vacuum, and the pvc is a check valve.

Run the PVC valve then a hose to the can then straight to the intake - I'm assuming you mean airbox? If I ran the hose from the catch can to the intake under boost I would be leaking boost out the catch can (I have a vented catch can)?
