Every once and a while when my car is ideling my check enigine light will come on with my low oil pressure light. If i get the the rpm's up the slightest bit then it goes away. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this? IS it anything to worry about? Any help would be much apreciated.

Thanks
Brendan

are stock gauges get old and they don't work right and they have false readings so get u a mechical gauge and then tell us what the reading is.If it's loiw then it could be a weak oil pump or bearing clearnce

Also, even though this is unlikely, but also a possibility, you should for the hell of it check the components of your oil pump. Such as making sure the part of the timing belt that goes around the intermediate shaft gear is nice and tight and check to make sure your intermediate shaft is turns freely and is not obstructed.

if it is pre-90 (or 89? dont remember) then it is probably a bad oil pressure sending unit. On the earlier cars, the computer and the gauge were on seperate sensors, so you would get bad readings on the gauge but the CEL would not come on. On the later models, the same sensor provides the signal for both the computer and the gauge so it will trip the CEL. The sensor having a worn out diaphragm is by and far the most likely reason for your problem. The sensor is only 10 bucks or so at mopar.
