My 2004 Neon R/T 150HP 134Tq hit the governer at 137mph. It took awhile to get there but it did it. She was straining! No mods unless you count MSD wires and a drop in K&N.
My '86 TII SC has seen 135mph on the GLHS speedo but it was to scary and noisy to try anymore! The car is a basic TII with a MP ecu, 2.5'' exhaust, and a gvalve at 14psi. Had more left for sure. Wind noise at that speed is rediculous!
My '84 GLH Carbd has seen 130mph on a GLHS speedo! Mods were MP header, MP cam. gutted airbox with a paper filter, and a 2.25'' exhaust no cat or muffler. That was some kinda loud. Was seeing 5600rpm on the tach and she was done.

VNT'd...how did you verify the Neon speed? Speedo doesn't read past 120. I've read others say they've done speeds past 120 in R/T Neons also...but I dunno how they verify the speed. Also, what governor did you hit? Speed, rev? Just curious.
Anyways...back to on topic:

R/T gauge clusters in 2gn neons go up to 140mph. I hit a speed limiter but I wasnt way to far from redline anyway. 3.94FD with a .81 overdrive doesnt make 5th gear very long.
Also Ive heard different top speeds on stock 2gn R/Ts. I've heard anywhere from 132mph-140mph! Im guessing some variance might be because of tire size difference or Tach accuracy. I was rolling on 205/50/16s and the stock size was supposed to be 195/50/16s. So my tires were slightly taller.
(Im kinda wondering if I should just keep my R/T now?!)

In my opinion, you can never have too many cars. You might have to suffer with a parking problem, but that is all.
Does everyone agree?

More cars = more insurance and upkeep.
More cars also = more fun, diversity, more potential money in times of crisis etc.
Over all the good outrules the bad =)

Ah..ok. I did not know about the speedo's in the Neon R/T's. Fair enough. Any pictures of them I could find never showed that...must've been baase model dashes.
Also, I too was finding different reports for the top speeds of those cars...most around 130...one published overseas source said 132mph.

Okay, the car has been running a bunch smoother since the new injectors were put in and a lot of vacuum leaks were fixed. We did plugs, wires, cap, and rotor last year.
Tonight on the way home from work, I couldn't resist trying for some speed, even in the middle of a fuel economy test. I was not going the right direction on the road for all out speed, but I was able to gauge the acceleration.
The CSX-T seemed a lot more responsive to the throttle. I ran it up to 85 and it was ready for more.
Now I can't wait to get it to a place to test top speed. Maybe the next tank ful will be the economy run.

Ah, I have had those before. They are easy to fool. Just build up some speed at the top of a hill and slip it into neutral. You can coast for a mile or two and really jack up the fuel economy reading. Do that after you hit the reset button and it makes your tank average look good. When you do your actual calculation when putting gas in the car, your mileage is only slightly improved. I've done it since these travel computers came out in '84. Sometimes, I'll catch a salesman doing it to a used car for the sake of the customer's concern over the car they are purchasing for fuel economy.
The best way to measure fuel economy is to pump the gas yourself from the same pump on the same day. Divide miles driven by gallons pumped. The most acurate method was to put a one gallon bottle of gas in the fuel line, switch it on, drive it til it dies. That is tougher to do with the fuel systems we have now.
Besides, where would I fit that into the Shadow dash? I don't recall them being offered on the P Bodies.
And hey, dust them vents!! Small soft bristle paint brush and an air nozzle on your air line, or with a vacuum cleaner. Then turn your AC on and spray some Frigi-Fresh through the cowl vent. That will clean out your duct work and kill any mildew/mold spores growing in there.

AWWW CRIPES! I was driving the Shadow today, running errands. It started off with a run across the interstate, then came back through the city. Half way back I had a stop to make. When I got back into the car, I turned the AC on to see if it had any useful charge left in it, nope it didn't.
While I was driving in city traffic, about 10 blocks from where I turned the air on, the engine started to stumble. The stumble became progressively worse until the check engine light came on.
The car would cut out, fall flat whenever I tried to accellorate hard. I made another two stops and somewhere before or after the two stops, I shut the air off. That seemed to smooth out the situation some.
I just pulled the code by cyclinig the key and returned code 26 for injector drivers.
Did my tech miss something or is there another problem with this car.
Remember it si an 88 CSX T with a mopar performance computer and a drop in K&N filter. We put plugs, wires, cap, and rotor in it last summer and new injectors a couple days ago. We also repaired several vacuum leaks at that time.
Any ideas or suggestions out there?

Check your injector harness. I would suspect wiring first, especially just after changing the injectors.

Got the pic to work
As for the code 26, I'm with the above post. The connector at the injector and the connector by the head both seem to cause issues. The grease that's in them is OLD and dirty, so get some electical parts cleaner and new dielectric grease. Clean the plugs and such(if you can actually clean each contact it will be even better), put the dielectric on them, and let 'er rip!
