You are the one that has to decide what you can call "daily". I had a friend that drove a gutted 69 nova with a 327 pushing close to 450 hp. then again I know people that won't own a car without power windows and leather seats. It's a matter of perspective. That said, a 2.5l N/A will require considerably more tweaks to get near the 200 hp mark. Bigger cam, bigger exhaust, lots more fuel. A turbo engine runs a much more mild cam profile, and the turbo itself muffles the exhaust note to some degree, it's also much easier to trim the fuel with 4 injectors than with TBI.

As long as you can keep your foot out of the gas and get decent gas mileage that is a good daily driver.

I hear guys getting 30 mpg and some getting 18 mpg but up to you.

That should be a base line a stock tII has 175 HP and with a mopar performance stage 2 computer ($135) and a 2 1/2 exhaust they are rated at about 215 to 220 horsepower. In my moms shelby lancer it was a daily driver with that set up and the engine lasted 215,000 miles before it needed a rebuild

here's what u do. dump the mopar, get a 1992/1993 olds achieva w-41 package. stock 190hp. runs 14.8's pretty easily and gets 30-32mpg. despite the neg of the q4, w/good maint they hold up no worse than a td and come stock with forged crank and full floating piston pins

ANYWAYS....I think the more important thing to consider is torque. Too much at certain times can make the car not fun. Then again, a multistage cal or boost control can take care of that!

Heres what i was thinking. ( i wanna know what you think) using the stock T1 block and head. T2 intake and throtlebody (have it already) stage 3 preformance computer from FWD preformance T2 injectors (came with intake) 2.5 inch exahust with no cat and a 27'' by 7'' intercooler (got it for free) i am going to use the stock garret t3 turbo but i will rotate the compresser housing so i can intercool it. can this get me close to 200? eventualy i will do other stuff but this is the 1st stage of my project car.

Up to 400 hp.

Then I use my right foot to control how much I want at any given time.

Yes, ryan
The modifications you suggested should get you above the 200hp mark pretty easy. If you are worried about the reliability as a daily driver, you should put some good guages in to moniter air/fuel, boost, and oil pressure and water temp. Also make sure you have working knock sensors and good plugs and wires, and fresh fuel filter.

I ran my omni with a proper tune up, some guages, mp computer, 15lbs boost, 2.5 exhaust, injectors, ported manifolds and it ran very good and ran for over 50,000 miles until it had 150,000 and got rearended and totalled, never had a problem except piddly vacum leak, tps type stuff.

Youll probably do about 180 to the wheels.

Which is about the same as any economy car by todays standards. Yeah, no trouble daily driving that.

^ I like the way you think.

But anyway... 200 sounds like a decent DD. Just drive it easy and you should be able to push in the high 20's for mpg. My 100% stock 86 Tona' does a consistent 30 mpg. I baby it and I drive it like a grandma though.
