This might sound weird but- Mine would really lose power after the 5000 rpm mark. The timing was right and all that good stuff. I just recently added an intercooler and now it will rev right up to redline pretty easily. It seems weird but my best guess is that the computer started to sense a knock from the knock sensor and started to retard the timing because of the intake heat. Now with a cooler air charge it doesn't back off timing (no knock)and allows more power\rpm.
Now this is all a guess but it is what has happened regardless of why.
I do know the intercooler made a big difference. I could barely touch the pipe coming out of the turbo (HOT) but the pipe from the IC to throttlebody was slightly warm. This is with a small IC.
Just food for thought.

Hmmm, I was actually pondering that very same theory. Perhaps there's something to it. I'm NOT intercooled at the moment so the facts happen to fit your theory. Unfortunately, it might not matter at this point. I'm pretty sure i just lost reverse in my trans this morning. We shall see how things pan out.
