I'm about to slap the head on my 88 daytona, and i was wondering if its common to use some copper spray on the head gasket. All my eagle talon friends use it on their OE gaskets/Commetics, i figured i would see what you guys usually do as far as any sealers on the gasket. Thanks in advance!

I'll have to check the PN on my gasket, i ordered a gasket for an 88 2.2 shelby z daytona, gave them the vin off my car and i got a MLS style gasket.

I use the copper spray. Can't hurt. I figure if there's any small scratch/gouge in the head and or block the spray will help fill it in.

I know a lot of people who use copper spray and others who don't. Its more preference and security.
I have heard it go both ways

The copper spray has a bit to do with what kind of gasket it is. IE: Cometics should be factory coated and they recommend a dry install. Cheapie gaskets are just that - cheapie - copper spray couldn't hurt.

if you have some, it cant hurt

of course it wont make up for poor surface prep

also IMO a re-tork (or perhaps mor appropriately, a tork-check) after 3-5 heat cycles is a MUST, whether cometic, MoPar, FelPro, whatever
