I've managed to get away with using Gatorade bottles with rubber tubes drilled into the caps as coolant overflow bottles for a long time on my 89 Shadow ES. The plastic seems to be able to take the heat (or maybe not!).

However, I have had two bottles fall out of the engine bay in the past week. The last one I swear was in there tight - many zip ties and other things. However, I went out to my car at work this morning (I had driven it earlier that morning) and found the bottle lying on its base underneath my engine bay with a puddle of coolant all over.

I would now like to find a better solution. Here's why I don't have a regular bottle: I built this Shadow from scratch and only had a battery tray that doesn't fit the car perfectly. There's not enough room for the stock bottle.

So, are there any materials, etc that would make a good bottle? What have other people done to fix this problem?

Thanks,
ca

I don't know if I want to spend $60 plus shipping on something as simple as an overflow bottle.

No one has rigged anything homemade up for these things?

The auto parts stores used to sell a small universal style tank. Check your local Autozone or Advance.
