Ya like that reference huh... I had the same reaction when I heard my boss use it. Now I say it among many other things he's said whenever possible. The one he said that really busted my nut was "Come hold this chicken while I F**k it." It was one of those hold this socket while I hit it with a hammer things. That one had me in stiches.

If you didn't find a vacuum source on the controller, that is the problem-it has to have vacuum to open and close the various doors to direct airflow-NAJ posted a diagram earlier in the thread, if the unit is out, I'd make a print of it and look carefully at it-has to be there somewhere.

it doesnt even look like there is a place for the vac to be on this unit. There are wires that were almost directly inline on the back of the unit, with the different button selectors. Ill try and get a picture of later tonight

The vacuum port must have broken off and is lying in the dash with the vacuum harness still connected.
There are only 2 types of climate control.
ATC which uses electric motors for the mode/blend doors
Manual HVAC which uses vacuum operated mode doors. The eletrical connector is for the blower switch and the cable is for blend door temp control.

there are two electrical plugins that were on this thing, one looked like it was for the mode doors and the other for the motor which tells it how much air to blow. I can post pictures of the two harnesses if that would help as well

That is the same control unit that is in my car, the other connector is for A/C on/off.
Here is a pic of the wiring for your control unit.

I cannot locate a pic but it should be right on the back, there will be 6-7 vacuum ports, the vacuum harness has all of those lines that run to a molded connector that would plug into the vacuum ports on the back of the unit.
The main vacuum line from under the hood should enter the interior by the heater hoses and comes from the brake booster.

You should be able to find the vacuum harness, like I said there are 5-7 vacuum lines all together, it is probably lying behind the dash, if the radio is under the control head like mine remove it to give yourself more access.

everything is removed from that center dash area and there are no vac lines to be found anywhere. How come there is a total of like 15 wires between the two harnesses for this thing. Im just not so sure mine operates off of vac

Take a look at the heater box and look at the motors on the box, do they have vacuum ports or electrical connectors. The only electrical you should see is to the blower resistor and blower motor.
How long have you had this car?

ive had the car for awhile but shortly after getting it the engine crapped out, ive probably had the car for a year and a half but it ran for only about the first 4 or 5 months. I am purchasing an engine to throw in it and hope to have it ready by the end of the summer. So in the mean time im trying to figure out all the little things which there arent too many of, idk if its a good thing or a bad thing that all the problems are pretty bad haha. Well anyway ill go take a look right now, the heater box is on the backside of where the stereo and control unit are correct?
