Hey everyone when my daytona was still driving i had a pretty annoying problem with the heater/fan controls. Whenever i tried to get it to blow air through the panel or defrost all it would do is come through the floor! Now this is extremely annoying and id like to figure out what is causing it to only blow through the floor. Any help is greatly appreciated

you might have to take the blower motor out but the door that controls were the air blows is either stuck or the arm is broke it might be on the top of the houseing

this is a easy one check the tiny plastic line coming from the brake booster it will be heading toward your interior sometimes they crack or the critters bite them any hole in this plastic line and the vents will not work .

If it was a vacuum supply problem from under the hood air flow would be from defrost only, defrost is the default position.
+1 on mode door sticking or broken, check that the control unit is actually changing position and supplying vacuum to the other motors. If vacuum stays constant on the floor motor regardless of position chosen the control unit is at fault.

Glad I came across this thread. Just 2 days ago I turned the A/C on in my 86 Daytona Z. It has stopped blowing out the pannel. It only comes out the defrost and the floor. Its annoying. My legs get really cold though. And I discovered that whenever I hammer it down my A/C gets warm. I found out that my water valve under the hood has stopped working. Its still letting hot coolant flow through the heater core. So its not shutting off. I zip tied the valve in the closed possition because I don't exactly need it in 100 deg weather. Could these be associating issues with a broken vacuum line?

how does someone go about checking the mode door? And im not sure if its coming from defrost as well because it did thaw out the windows when it was cold in the winter. Ill take a look at the vacuum tomorrow and will hopefully find something, is the vacuum line the very very thin line that is going to the firewall?

The vacuum line that goes thru the firewall is the main vacuum to the control unit, there is also a vacuum harness on the control unit that supplies vacuum to the mode door motors on the heater box.
Locate the vacuum motor for floor on the heater box and disconnect the motor from the mode door and see if the door moves. You will not see the door itself, that is inside of the heater box.

Found my leak! it was about 4 inches from the line that goes into the brake booster. Right where it bends. Go figure right.... Repaired with a piece of windsheild pisser line. Now it blows in my face!

Bsbllfit7.... did you ever find your problem?

Vacuum source in and out is behind the control unit. A vacuum harness plugs into the rear.
If your problem is related to the vacuum motors you should be able to access them from under the dash or thru the glovebox opening.
If the problem is with a mode/blend door the heater box will have to be removed.

I think you will find a vacuum problem under the hood, seems to be the common problem.
