1987 shadow turbo. stock.. 38000 original miles (yup thats right 38k) little old lady car! did all the regular things, cap, rotor , wires, plugs, filters, fluids to get her ready to roll, just one problem, starts great cold, hard to start, cranks excessively have to pump the accelerator sometimes to get her to start when warm, then blows some black smoke upon starting and seems to run fine then...

My 2.5 TI daytona do the same thing I need to hit the gas to make it start and a small black cloud go out of the muffler. This is not very dangerous or the car. I do this since I own the car ( it makes 1 year now)

"pumping" the accelerator does nothing for you, Its not a carb Now holding it to the floor turns off the injectors and that can help.

do you have any codes? It sounds like the computer thinks the engine is cold when it is not..

Check basics.
Fuel Pressure, Static, Running Cold and wait until engine gets warm does pressure drop?
What is Fuel Pressure while cranking warm?
Is the Throttle Body and AIS clean of Carbon?
Are there any Vacuum Leaks? Is Vacuum to the Baro Solenoid/Map Sensor ok?
Are there any fault codes present?

thanks for that
I am just reporting the conditions in which the car reacts ... and in this case holding the accel does nothing to help with the starting condition
