This might sound odd, but could somebody post pictures of a Charge Temp Sensor and the harness connector that plugs into it? I need to compare something.

Thanks,

-Walt

It's a common block 2.2 that I rebuilt to be a turbo II. I have a custom Turbo 2 harness from an 88 Daytona Shelby Z installed in an 88 Omni. I got the charge sensor from a junked Z and it doesn't seem to match the connecter on my harness. I'm trying to figure out if I have the wrong harness, or the wrong sensor, or both.

Hope that clears things up.

Thanks,

-Walt

I don't have an 88 but I want to say it's similar, if not the same as, a CTS connector...

At the parts store if you ask for a charge temp sensor they will give you a brass coolant temp sensor. They have the same plug, but the original charge sensor is plastic so it doesn't heat soak.

I see Turbo's Unleashed links still don't work, but if you go to the electric sensor's section there's a pic of a charge temp sensor.

Hmmmm, the sensor I have actually doesn't look like any of those you've listed. Perhaps the one that I have is damaged. It's a small three pronged brass looking cage with a small "bulb" like object connected to two prongs. Perhaps it's a damaged sensor with the plastic shell missing. But then, considering that the plug is wrong, perhaps it's the wrong sensor all together. How it got into the Turbo 2 I pirated it from is a mystery to me.

I'll just have to get a different sensor.

Thanks, that picture is exactly the type of comparison I was hoping for!

Alot of the aftermarket sensors are like you just described. that little bulb is the sensor element itself. how it hooks up and what its Ohm range is whats important. I'm pretty sure the connector you have on the harness is like that for the coolant sensor... you should have no problems just getting a sensor from the auto parts store now that you know what you're looking at

The sensor you describe is an aftermarket one .I have bought several from Advance Auto and none of them worked-plus the little "bulb" disappears after a few miles! The plastic originals are hard to find but MAY still be avail from Chrysler.I saw them somewhere the other day but don't remember where I saw them-maybe FWD since I recently bought a bunch of stuff.

Thanks for the input guys. It seems like my solution is pretty simple and the hard part should just be tracking down a quality sensor.
