What is an average oil pressure @ 3K and idle on an 88 t1. The spec i found at 3K was pretty broad 25-90psi.

mines an 89 2.5 t1 but at idle once its warmed up its about 25psi and by 3k its at 50-55psi. the rule of thumb is 10psi for every thousand rpm. 50 is pretty much good enough for any rpm

Thats very high!

You can go as low as 6-7 psi at a hot idle depending on your oil viscosity. Heck, I think minimum spec at idle is 4 psi or so.

Good to know that

However, on my car, the "low oil" light goes on at idle when hot. Goes off as soon as I touch the "go" pedal. The factory oil pressure gauge also show low but I installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge and this one shows 10 psi.

I was also wondering what's the normal engine temp for our cars?
