Gut everything not essential. Install a Mopar comp. ($100), grainger valve to 14 lbs., 23x8.5x15 slicks at 18 PSI of air($200), remove exhaust after DP, Xfirm rear shocks,
straight 110 race gas. Result ? ~ around 14.0@101MPH . That's my guess if you have to start with a TII G-body. (Not my choice)

+40's- $130
G-valve- $20- $30
walbro fuel pump - $120
tbi cam - $30
open down pipe- free
reprogramed comp -$200-$400 or D-cal, <$100
15x7 steelies- $50- $60
slicks $200-$300
used holset HX35 turbo- $100-$200
rebuild kit for turbo- $35
it comes out to more or less than a grand, just depends on where you get stuff. but you may have other things to deal with- clutch, axles, worn out engine etc.

The cheapest way: go for a set of slicks and remove all the interior, windows, trunk, hood, dash, capet, all, until you get a 1500lbs car !
Cost: $200 for the slicks

2 Grainger valves is all you need to run a 14.0 in a 89 C/S T2 daytona. $20. Done.

+10 there. Now it would be more interesting if we started with something harder, like a 1991 dodge spirit ES 2.5L T1

my gut feeling from reading posts here is that a megasquirt ecu, a junkyard 16v dohc neon head (with intake still attached), a junkyard '88 supra intercooler (I got mine for $35), a t3-t4 turbo, a mp headgasket, and a 3bar map would get you there.. I am not sure how much the machining on the neon head would be though, or after all the plumbing if it would still be under 1k.
anybody know how much all that would cost (minus the hundreds of hours of labor to put it all together/debug it)

an 89 c/s is already a lightweight car with basic accessories (so not too much to gut)
a g-valve
Stage 5 cal
+40's
3 bar map
set of slicks
open down pipe
And a kick ass driver

you guys make it way too expensive. Converting my 87 New Yorker to full 87 T2 specs (pop the hood and it looks like an 87 T2 motor) removing the cat and turning the boost to 14.5psi let the stock Automatic run the car to a 14.3 with no other mods. If the 89 C/S is a T2 car, just crank the boost with a grainger till you go 14.0. If you hit the boost cut install a cutout rasier and watch the fuel. 17psi would do it easy. 2 graingers and you're there.

14.0 in any T2 car with a $1,000 budget is so easy.
