i am trying to set the ignition timing on my 2.5 turbo but i can't read the marks on the bell housing to determine what the lines mean. the tag says it needs to be at 12 degrees and it wasn't even in the window. if someone could tell me what the marks me that would be awsome.
thanks

go get a little wire brush and some brake cleaner so you can see what you're doing.

and you disco'd the CTS? if not, the mark will move around as you try to set timing... that could be why it never showed up in the window.

yes they are numbers... I dunno if the marks in the windows are all the same. I think 12 is gonna be the second to the last line toward the firewall.

the timing must have been way off cause i put it on the 2nd from the firewall and its like driving a different car! not sluggish at all anymore.

thanks screamin4banger

to make it easier to see you can just spray it with black spray paint, then go back and wipe off the #'s- aluminum over black background- hard as hell to miss

I had this same issue, Doesn't look lke mine are numbered at all. Just lines. I took a guess.. Theres only 8 marks right? In any case i just guessed the first was 0 and went from there (that turbo oil feed line right above was leaking which caused the hard time seeing it)
