Im curious. Is the drivetrain in the turbo minivan's the same dimensions as say.. whats in the daytona and spirits? the 2.5 litre turbo's?

I can get a turbo dodge motor cheap, and I already have a car I want to try and put them into... I have lots of time and ambition...

I'll probably end up with a 2.2 turbo, but I thought I should at least try for the 2.5

All motors fit all the turbo cars..

The choice, 2.2L or 2.5L, should depend on what you want it for. 2.5's fall flat on their face above 5200 rpm, but make good drag cars with an automatic geared correctly.

I'm on a budget, best bang for the buck --what would you go with a 2.2 or a 2.5. I was kinda thinking I could come by a 2.5 turbo cheap and the extra displacement would be nice. I always thought the r/t spirits had the 2.5, but last night i saw one for sale.. it said 2.2

What is the car and what are you looking to do with it.

2.5's come with the smaller mitsu turbo. Although a garret can be slapped on there. Good for heavy automatic cars.

2.2's I prefer for 5 sp cars or lighter cars.

I don't want to hear any laughs or criticism, but the car is a Prelude Si. Its got 255,000+ miles on it, the current motor is leaking oil thru the main bearing seal making the clutch slip (temporarily fixed with lucas oil).

Originally I considered a honda motor for the swap. The problem with that is, unless i stick with the current b20a5 motor (135hp) Its going to be just as hard as swaping a turbo 2.2. I would have to pay 2500+$ for a H22a motor (200hp vtec) to get the power i want. Even though its a honda motor, I would need tranny, motor, mounts, axels, etc. I can get a 2.2 turbo, tranny, etc for about 500$ Its easier to get power out of. And best of all, it would be unique.

All input is welcome, but its going to be really hard to persaude me to not do it. I have nothing better to do, and I don't see why it can't be done.

I'm only looking to make about 160whp, I'd really like to keep it a 5 speed, but I won't rule out an automatic.
