replace fuel pump and fuel filter soon. what's the best way to depressurize the fuel system? open gas cap and leave it for a few hours, or...

there's a scrader valve on the fuel rail
If you don't know what it is look for a big "vavle stem" cap
in the center of the fuel rail, unscrew this
there's a needle valve just like a tire
grab a rag and clarefully push down on this
(becareful the engine isn't hot or you don't get fuel in your eye ect.,ect.)
that'll relieve the press.
there will still be fuel in the lines, but it won't spray out

sorry to hack your thread bud, but is there any thing that i should replace while replacing the fuel filter? other than hoses. and is there any thing i have to do before start up or any thing?

Fuel lines are a great idea along with the clamps
check the ones under the hood while it's down

nothing to really worry about during restarting
if you turn the car on and off twice you'll probally get enough fuel up there for it to start without cranking too long.

For those that don't know, if you turn it on-off three times or more the pump won't fire unless you crank it a little. So switching it on-off twenty times won't help

well i looked at it today under the hood at the fuel hoses and they look brand new and are squishy to see if they were deteriorated and they were fine. i havent looked under it tho but i probley will replace them anyway. thanks.
