I couldn't find much info about this. I'd like to put a G-head on a 2.5 that i plan to rebuild on the side (would like to run 25psi boost) but would like to know what needs to be done? From what i gathered i would need to do something about the difference with the cams teeth and made me wonder if just swapping the sprocket would work ok? I'm guessing i can't just swap out cams due to the shorter valves. Will there be any timing issues?

Oh and the 2.5 is from a 92.

The TBI roller cams are basically the same.
Only exception to this is the ADV/RET ground into the '88 and '89 2.5 TBI cam. Those are 4* RET otherwise the same spec's.

There are (2) round tooth sprockets to be aware of. #557 and #690. The 690 is 4* RET when compared to the 557 sprocket. A later (90+ TBI cam) may do better with the 690 sprocket on the 2.5 engine ... might not, too. Best to work (dyno/track time) with the cam timing if you're looking for that last little bit of power from your engine.

There are really only (2) stock roller grinds for these engines. The TBI cams and the lone '89 turbo cam. Don't sweat this detail too much
