I am in the process of converting my 86 T1 Daytona to a T2 car. for now i am going to convert it to T2 and use the stock GLHS calibration. before i start bumping up the boost i wanna make sure my bottom end can handel it,
Here is what i have in mind: 89 common block, T1 crank, t2 rods, and t2 pistons. i was first conserned that i would need a t2 crank but after looking into it my t1 crank (probaly reground) will do just fine. for my top end i will use my 86 t1 head, possably a roller cam not yet sure. Also i was thinking of going with a 2.5 crank and pistons. what should i go for? what will the larger displacement do with my computer calibrations? any tips/input will go a long way. Thanks.

Do non CB cranks fit into CBs? If you're going to use stock TI pistons, your cap is 300HP. If you want to use 2.2L pistons, you need to use a crank from a 2.2L engine. Unless you're going with an all out 400HP+ race car, 2.5L is the way to go: 89+ block, plain ol 2.5L crank, TII rods, 2.5L TI pistons. Much better all around power with the 2.5L.

Where did you find a Daytona GLHS btw? Lol, what do you mean by stock GLHS calibration? Either way, you're having a 2.2L cal controlling a 2.5L engine and it supposedly makes a difference, just how big of a difference is beyond me but others on this board will tell you.

Its a TurboZ Daytona, i had to use a 86/87 GLHS logic module because the pinouts for the 87 turbo 2 Logic modules are diffrent. my stock 86 LM will not work with the t2 throttle body and only allowes 7.5 lbs boost.

unless youre planning on pushing 450 hp or more a cast crank will be fine. stock TI or TII pistons with TII rods will hold up to about 325-350 hp if its tuned properly. non CB cranks will fit in a CB, you have to have the front seal journal turned down to the size of the CB

if you run a 2.2 cal on a 2.5 you will be running it lean the whole time. 2.2 cal gives less fuel than a 2.5 cal and bumping up fuel pressure wont work. use the proper cal for the engine.

I ran a 2.5 on a 2.2 calibration for a while in my charger. It can be done on stock fuel pressure if you get +20 injectors. It'll run ever so slightly rich, but the 2.2 cal also has a more aggressive spark curve. I pulled the ignition timing back to 8* advance instead of the stock 12*, and was pleased. Idle quality suffers slightly, and so does performance at part throttle boost levels, but my non-car-oriented friends didn't notice. I ended up putting in a two stage boost controller so that I would only get 5psi at part throttle and full boost only at WOT and that solved my griping, especially since I built it out of junk solenoids. There are pictures floating around here somewhere. I definately recommend getting a custom cal, but it's doable the other way.

t2 pistons wont work on a 2.5 you have to have 2.5 t1 pistons, they're just as strong as the t2 pistons anyway so no worries there
