So when I first bought the car, 87 Shelby Charger GLHS, the rad fan would not come on. The problem had been fixed for most of the summer, thank you William, but it no longer works. When I take the left connection off the relay and put it back on I hear the relay click on. When I pull the CTS the fan does not come on. When I hard wire the fan it works no prob. what could it be? I tried to buy a new relay but the only one listed only had the 3 left pins and 1, instead of 3, right pins. can someone tell me the part # to look for? Thanks for all help.

could be a bad relay, a wiring problem, a pcm driver problem. you need a scanner, a wiring diagram and a dvom to properly diagnose this problem. (can be done without a scanner but it's a lot easier with one)
you need to verify that you have 12v power to the relay (gray wire), you need to verify that if you jumper main relay power to the fan (grey to light green), see if the fan comes on. engine running, disconnect ECT (engine coolant temp sensor -OBD2 current terminology) see that you have relay control power dark blue and pink wire, see if the control gounding wire has continuity (zero ohms resistance between wire and negative battery post)

I had the same problem with a 84 Rampage, it turned out the fan was pulling 30 amps instead of 5 amps and burn out the fusible link.

This sounds like it could be the prob. I noticed yesterday that the car is either beginning, in the midst of, or ending a melt down. I hate electrical, it is so hard to deal with.
