Hey guys, I was just curious about something. I just bought an '89 T1 Lebaron. I immediately converted it to an intercooled setup and turned the boost up to ~13. It has low miles, and runs excellently, though it seems to have awesome low-end power, and feels like it runs out of steam almost immediately after it hits full boost. As in, I can brake boost, and take off like a bat-out-of-hell, then after I finally gain traction and start accelerating, I feel like all that horsepower has dissipated and it feels nearly stock. I've had 4 T1 cars with this setup, and they all display the same type of behavior. Am I just getting as much flow out of the factory mitsu as I can with the amount of fuel provided? Is this the way all cranked-up T1's act? My only advantage over people is off-the-line takeoffs, and highway boost roll-on's.
That's another thing, the car feels faster if I give it a part-throttle boost situation and let it pull, rather than flooring it and letting it downshift. Then it just sucks. I assume it's because of the longer gear ratio vs. torque scenario when it doesnt downshift. All my auto T1's have done this as well!
Any thoughts?
