Got the engine from My first TD from the current owner 89 2.5 T1
pulled the pan on it and the balance shaft chain was badly stretched.
the rod bearings look ok but theres alot of metal shavings in the pan.
and a few bigger pieces that I took pictures of.

all I know of the history since I got rid of the car was it had a new head put on, and had 2 turbos go bad.
I tore the balance shaft assembly apart looking for where these parts came from.

sort of looks like a part of the wrist pin clip but it's square not round, and theres some broken chunks that seem to fit around the clip/ring thingy.
the 4th piece from the left resembles part of a gear tooth?
and they all stick right to a magnet.
not sure where these parts came from(turbo?) ANY IDEAS?

never had a mitsu turbo apart so not sure if it's possibly parts from a turbo?
the guy ran em until they siezed.

I'm not seeing this. Think about the path these parts would need to navigate to get through the oil return. Their size exceeds the bearing clearances.

I too was a beliver that there's no way those parts made it from the turbo.
That was until I saw the turbo from the engine.

belive me when I say.
The bearing clearances exceeded the size of the parts, lol
it destroyed the center section of the mitsu turbo and the compressor wheel.
there was just so much metal in the bottom of the pan, I was sure I was going to find a spun rod. Instead the Engine looks to be fine so far.
I haven't figured out the gear tooth looking piece yet though.
