so i'm removing the oil pan and it's hitting on one side, the water pump, and on the other side, a bracket where the axle bolts too. I started to remove the bracket but either my socket is too short and can't get the ratchet on with the socket, or too long and the ratchet hits one of them metal tabs that holds an oil line in place... ARGH! So am i missing something or is that common to have to remove one of those? Car is a 91 daytona

If your talking about the 2.5 ltr engine it makes it much easier to remove the pan if you pull the front engine mount under the radiator support and pull the steel bracket from the back corner of the trans /block, use an 18 mm wrench or deep well socket with a 3" extension, you don't need to pull the axle support or water pump

Ah... lil too late.. I managed to get a socket on the mount and loosened it up a lil just to get a bit of extra slack... But i have another question now....i had a oil pan gasket come with the car when i bought it and it has a bunch of extras. Like a 3 inch gasket seal and some regular round rubber ones and a smaller version of one of the end gaskets for the actual pan. I'm guessing i don't need all of these but theat big 3 or 4" Seal i think i may need to replace but i don't know where it goes... (please don't tell me i have to pull the crank gear, i just timed it) I can show a pic if it helps

Yah i just used what came with the car... hopefully won't give me trouble.. but on the bright side is i have both crank seals for when i rebuild my spare engine
Both of mine are showing effects of being bad but i had to take car off the road for the season anyway and didn't want to spend the time on it right now.
