The car does start but dies on me within a few seconds. There is fuel and spark, but for some reason it chokes on me. When I got the car the fuel pump wasn't working, so after fixing it I tried to start it but it did basically what its doing now. Then I changed the spark plugs because when I removed the old ones they seemed to have liquid on them, it didn't feel or look like oil so what I thought it could be gasoline, maybe the plugs don't work and its not burning the gasoline & that's why there wet. After changing the plugs I started the car and it ran steady on the first turn of the key for about 5 minutes & then died on me. I started it up again but this time it only ran for about half the time it did before (around 2 1/2 minutes). After that it started doing what it is doing right now. What I'm thinking is that maybe it wasn't gasoline on the plugs but water & in that case it could be the head gasket. What do you guys think it could be? Oh and when the car turns on at first it trows black smoke and then it turns white. I know that black smoke means its running rich & white that its burning oil, but could white mean its water instead of oil?
Thanks

check to see if your coolant level in the radiator is low. if it is then it is most likely your head gasket
