How much does THIS cost -shop here charges 275 to setup to align bore anything.Had an OSJ head that I wanted to do this to and it cost more than a new head.

I just put it back together, had no choice. It ran good before. Had the usual 2.2/2.5 noises...racket.

My dad thinks it was a bad casting.

thats not good, and wasn't due to a bad casting. There was dirt in there that caused the stracthing/pitting. I'd look for another head, flush out the oil system to make sure what was there isn't now in the oil valleys. I'm assuming you looked at the other caps, but it's america so you never know until you ask, did you? how did they look? scratches like those on cap #2?

That cap was the only one like it.

Had to use it, no other choice right now. The cars running now, and almost seems quieter in the head now.
