Before I begin, I would like to thank the members of this forum for being so helpful. I'm new to the td's and would like some help. I've been researching and learning so much but can't find enough info on how to do an engine swap from 1989 Dodge Daytona Shelby t2 to a 1985 Dodge Daytona t1 "turbo z", also how to change the z to a manual. I know I need the engine harness and all the vacuum lines and the comp, but I read somewhere that you can just buy some adapter to switch the t1 to t2 but now I cant find the site anymore. Is this true, if not can someone please give me some insight on how this is done and sorry if this sounds like a newb question.

Do you have both car side by side? If so, just look at how the 89 is setup up for the manual parts.

Yes I have both cars beside each other but how about the wiring and the peddles. Does anyone have the pinout diagram of the two harnesses. Do they make pigtails to adapt the harness.

Pedals are easy. They are bolted to the firewall. Look up under your dash and you should see them. I think there are two bolts that go to your steering wheel column too. Your 85 has 2 computers, 89 only has one. I'm guessing the 89 is smashed and this is the reason for the swap? Personally I'd try to use the entire 89 wiring harness for the 85.

The Shelby was going threw chemo but she didnt make it. Thats what I'm going to do. It seems the easiest way. What other goodies from the shelby should i save (to upgrade my 85 turbo) this is off topic but is there a way to get a vin run to see what options my car came with, since its missing some of the pieces, I would really love to save another daytona. The dealer told me it was to old and it wouldn't be in there system. Is there anyone on this site from Windsor Ontario.

We used to be a dealer but were on Chryslers hit list.
I used to run options lists for TD members.
Actually your car is still in Mopars system but......
Due to the age a lot of the option code descriptions will have been deleted.
It will still list the option code but will not give a description of what the code was for.
The engine/trans description may not be listed as well as the exterior/interior trim codes.
Even with that you can still get the exact build date and time and the in service date if they run a "function 14" for you.
They may decline that since it has the original owners name/address.
You won't know what is there unless they run the options list and print it out.
Other members may know what some of the codes are if you get it and post it.

the hard part is swapping in the pedals.the rest is easy.the 89 engine will bolt in the 85 and you can just use your wiring as is.the t1 to t2 overlay is pretty simple, just amounts to running two wires. The info is on Donovan's Dodge Garage
You can't use the 85 automatic even if you weren't going to swap in the manual unless you have a special flexplate made to adapt the 8 bolt crank to an 6 bolt flexplate for the early automatic trans. You shouldn't do this-just go ahead and swap in the 5 speed.

Someone stated this before, the 85 has a power module (PM) and a computer module (LM). The 89 will have a single computer. You will have to change over the wire harness. Don't know if the dash will work or not. Hope you can save it.
