I have several choices,I refuse to buy from "auto part stores" due to rebuilt core issues I've had with their products.
After a failed "new rebuild" water pump on my 96 Dodge Ram,I went with a Carter new build, the Mopar replacement was outrageous in price back then.

Next, I do not know who actually made Mopar waterpumps for 2.2l T2 in the year 1989,which is the model year I'm working with.
Maybe it a Carter back then too?

My choices,GMB ,Gates,AC Delco,HyTec,Rock,Bosch.

Has anyone had good luck,or heard anything bad of any of these,I'm kinda leaning towards AC Delco.

The only input I can give you is when we had the head off 1 1/2 years ago I replaced almost all maintainace items including the water pump.
Used a NEW Duralast from Autozone and have had absolutly no issues.
I am also willing to bet AC Delco does not make that pump themselves, it is made for them and put in thier box to sell as an aftermarket replacement part.

I can believe that,it may be the issue of the core that is begun with and quality control of the company.

Well the core is not an issue since the pump was NEW.
I would not use a remanufactured water pump or master cylinder.
The pump new was only $29.00.

hmm I bought a new Mopar pump a couple years ago. Didn't think the price was bad and the fin was the same shape as the stocker where the aftermarket pumps have a different fin shape. Corse I ground off 3 of the 6 fins and ported the housing.

I had a replacement mopar waterpump that said remanufactured right on it. I have also bought a Duralast water pump. Both of them failed after about 2 years each. I put in another Duralast since it is cheap and supposedly a lifetime warranty, so a year from now, I "should" be able to swap em when it goes out again.

Its the bearings that go out, and it really all depends on the quality of the bearing. I don't care at all if there is a sticker that says "remanufactured' or "new," as long as the bearing inside will hold for a while. Maybe I've overtightening my belt...?

Sounds like a hit or miss situation with any of them these days, after thinking it over and seeing mixed feedbacks, I'll go with whoever could give the best technical background on their part construction, and that now fell into the hands of Gates waterpumps.

Buy them all. Take them all out of the boxes. Pick the best looking one. Keep the box & receipt for the cheapest one. Return the others.

This way you get the best part at the best price.
