I have water comming out of my tail pipe. Does this indicate a blown head gasket: Also the engine over heats.

Some water is normal, IE condensation. If it's a LOT of water that is a good indicator of a blown HG. Also check for bubbling in the coolant overflow tank, loss of coolant, mixing of coolant/oil where the oil will look like a chocolate milkshake. Overheating is both a cause and an effect of a blown head gasket.

If you start an engine cold, and just let it idle up to operating temperature, a LOT of water can pool up in a low spot of the exhaust, such as the muffler, and when you take off, it'll literally leave a trail of water behind you. Especially in the winter.

H20 is a byproduct of gasoline combustion, and even a perfectly healthy engine can leave a trail of water when the conditions are right. I hear that the temperatures in FL have gotten down into the 40's, which is definitely cool enough for this to happen. If the head gasket is at fault, coolant consumption will be substantial and it would probably spit and sputter on startup after a 6 hour cold soak.

I've back flushed the system several time. Even with the thermistat taken out it still overheats quickly. Any ideas

Does the cooling system build pressure right away? If so, yes, your head gasket is shot and/or there is a big crack in the head or block that is causing it.

I think I'll leave the current turbo in until i do build up the rest of the parts. Plus I NEED a manual trans in this thing, I'm sick of the automatic. But concerning my 85 2.2 head, I had it rebuilt when it was in my 600, New cam, re-planed, and all the goodies. But when we had the motor in the car i heard a tapping and it was coming from the top end. I didnt have the time to do all the work to diagnose it so we just swapped the extra head i had onto the motor and no more noise. So i guess I'll have to check that out sometime this week and see if I can spot something. Also since it is from the 2.2 wouldnt I need a spacer to use with the 2.5?

Turned out to be a blown head gasket.
