LOL how many times are you below 4krpm when going at it... If I recall, Bens lancer never got below a mid 13??

Agreed... Gears are a great equalizer... problem is, there aren't too many choices for us
Still contending, an equal built 2.2 will out haul a 2.5 from a roll....

Look at some dyno plots... 500 rpm for a stock car.. grow that a few hundred for a well built 2.2.
Overbore has a negligible effect. My preference is still:
5 sp... go 2.2
Heavier auto (>2700lbs) go 2.5L
Lighter Auto, go 2.2L
I watched a 2.2 rap out 419 ft lbs at 4300 rpm. The torque difference is not great enough to overcome the better power band.

LOL... if you say so.
I've worked on and tuned both motors. I've presented cases for BOTH motors...
Thanks for the compliment "thumbs up

Even with slicks, a 2.5 with a 5 speed doesnt work well with a fwd car. In low gear when still at low speed you will blow the tires away.

The higher revving 2.2 will win if built equally.

Thats highly debateable. I prefer the 2.2 myself. I just prefer the way it drives. Yet, I will NOT claim it is a better choice and there isnt any proof of this.

It has an rpm advantage but has a torque disadvantage. There is no clear "winner" here and its all in how you build it.
Overboring has no effect at all on max RPM. Stroke is the only major limiter to RPM as it controls piston speed.
Rod ratio plays a part as well because it effects piston acceleration.

Even with a 2.5 you should still be shifting in the 5500-6000 range.

You are way off base... 5000-5200 max for the majority of the 2.5's out there.

Shifting my 2.2 below 5600 resulted in 2-3 tenths quicker e.t's (mostly stock car)
