i believe that in 87 and 88 you could get a t1 2.2L, but i'm not sure. i found this site to be quite informative when researching what year shadow to get.

Yep.. There is no "best", there are only opinions and preferences. Before deciding, people should search the forums and dig for info. Then based on what they WANT, make their decision.

I watched a 2.5L omni (2550 w driver) run solid 11's all day yesterday at 116-118 mph. (btw... it is the ONLY 5 sp 2.5L car I know of that is in the 11's)

87 was a TI 2.2 with garret turbo, 88 was 2.2 TI with 1 piece intake and Mitsu turbo. From there on, 2.5's were TI's and 2.2's were TII-IV

I wish I had access to a dyno for this thread, we'd find out what a TII conversion (right down to the Garrett TII w/large 'can and swingvalve) on an 89 2.5/auto puts down at a streetable 15 PSI.

My humble opinion, that better low-end torque curve will make it more fun to drive on the street, (costly on tires and breakage, though) but a 2.2 would be more suited to a more race dedicated vehicle..

I'm sticking 2.5 because, being a natural born V8 guy, I am addicted to that low-rpm Grunt. Horsepower is nothing but a by-product of torque and RPM, that's why your dyno graphs will always cross at 5252 RPM. It's just a meaningless number to me...

i swapped a 2.2 TII from an 88 shelby z and put it into my CS daytona (89)

it was incredibly easy nothing changed...

just dropped it right in electrical everything....

but the stock computer is in it and its used to the smaller turbo so its not giving it all the boost that the bigger TII can handle...

i suggest in doin this buy a computer from FWDperformance.com
