Canty is keeping the peace
I routed my new belt around the bottom of the water pump pulley. (Pulley is smooth, not ribbed) I noticed some pictures on line that show the belt going over the top of the pulley toward the bottom of the alternator. Which is right?

All factory common block cars ('89-later) have the smooth waterpump pulley, and the belt goes around the top of it. '88-earlier cars have the ribbed pulley, and the belt goes around the bottom of it.
