I have been working w/ my father-in-law who has been a profesional welder and fabricator for 34yrs. All he works w/ is stainless so all the headers that will be made will be stainless. For starters we will be building two 1 for my dad's fairly stock GLH-T and 1 for my Full blown cylinder head w/ around 14-18psi. We will be doing the one for the GLH-T 1st because it will being put back together 1st. They will be 304 and fully tig welded.
I have stock turbo manifolds and will work w/ one of the leaders in the Mopar engine building field to do the stock to s.s header flow comparo. We are definatlly building just 2 for know. My dad will run his on his daily driver and I will run mine well on my not so daily driver. We will wait till the middle of next summer to deside on doing them as a product. The will be close to the stock desighn but w/ some minor movemnet of the flang and much larger piping. THIS WILL NOT be a rip off of the TU header. The idea behind my desighn is to give stock apperance with a little bit more ease of fitting a Hybrid. The tubing will be alot larger than whats avalble as well.
I will post pics and progress as it comes. If successful we will go public w/ it and will become a Vendor. We will not discuss price but do to the fact you that I woulnt need to make any add on to make it work it should be priced fairly for a S.S. header. Does this sound like a doable idea or should we build 2 and be done.
Thanks
Joe

If youy cant make them for under $100, you wont sell more than 10. The vendors already offer excellent products but very few in this hobby will put fourth the cash for a nice item.. or even understand the value for that matter.

Typert already makes them, very reasonable and around $300, can't beat that. He can barely sell any, its ridiculous. Apparently were very cheap so I don't know if you want to go to all that hassle of making them when he does already. We have had numerous people build cheap headers and no one buys them.

give it a try, and see - you may sell, you may not, depends on the gains and the design - do it and see!

I will see during mock up how well clearancing goes on if I will mass build. I'm trying for to have #1 and #2cyl run individual pipes along wth 3&4 direct to the turbo flange. We are going to try 1.5" i.d. tubing for each primary to the collector. I think It may need to be smaller off the flange. I'm accually going to order my flanges from Typert here shortly so I can start mock up. If the header flops or cracks on me I can always just by one from him

I paid $750 for my T304 SS tube header that keeps the turbo in the stock location. Your header sounds awesome. I'd like to have a bit bigger tubes, the cylinders paired for a dual scroll turbo, external gate, and T3 flange. Keep us posted. I'll pony up the cash for one if it's good.

Well, if its just a near stock design, i would thing there isnt much room for another vendor in the current market. They only real opening is probably for people trying new/better things.

Trust me it's not a near stock design. The only thing we are trying to keep stock is the turbo location so people woulnt have the hassle of fabing swing valves, turbo and coolent lines and down pipes. Also on other header designes the gains are good but the stuff you have to do to make them fit an L-body is gay. You woulnt have to wrap your stearing rack and lines or make "fire wall adjustments" to make it work. My dad and I will be using the first 2 made and he already has a 2.5"SV, 3" s.s down pipe and will be using a 3" mandrel bent exhaust. I'm not going to make him buy or make all new crap.

Nope each port will have it's own runner. The only thing that sux is we cant find an easy way to make the tubes equal do to the intake manifold. The project is on hold as of now because I'm getting the header and turbo flanges from Typert and he's got some on order from his machinest. I'll post pics as progress comes along.
