Not your "typical" muffler question.

I've got a 85 600 T1 A-413. I'm looking at the different types of Magnaflows mentioned since I'd like to keep the drone down to a minimum, but, with this 600, the oem muffler is a "Can" type, located near the rear bumper. How do I fit a Magnaflow in there? There is no room. Can I locate it "right after" the cat and just run pipe from there to the bumper?

Thanks!

Paul

for a quieter, but high flow non droning muffler, i sugest teh Dynomax race magnum oval mufflers. They have shorter cans and fit right where the stocker does.

Race Magnums and Ultraflows are now the same thing.

Any high flowing or performance muffler will drone if placed up front instead of at the back. You should be able to squeeze a Magnaflow back there. The Ultra flow is a good muffler and if you can get a smaller one, will sound nice and won't drone.
Make sure to put a tailpipe facing out or to the side or it will drone. A turn down will be bloody deafening.

If I placed it up front I was going to shoot pipe out to the rear bumper. I just wanted to make sure that the drone would be pointed to the rear. I don't think I'd go with a side exit = Too much drone, but it would be fun to hear the spool sounds

I'll more likely try to find a good flowing "Can" muffler. I'll check out some of the ideas suggested. When looking at all the other posts about mufflers I was just wondering how a super turbo "type" of muffler would fit where a Can is. I didn't think it would fit, even if placed sideways.

it should fit in the stock location. link below show mine. it can be placed higher, i lowered it so the bumper wouldn't melt. can't really see it from behind. doesn't drone at all, very quiet.

The drone is thru the car, its not isolated, trust me, lol!

Even still, if you have the muffler at the front and a tailpipe out the rear, there is a distinct possibility it will drone, been there, done that.

Here's the muffler on my R/T. That's a 3" exhaust pipe that is angled down to clear the bumper. It is cut at an angle just below the bumper and you can't tell it's such a large exhaust until you get underneath it; everything is out of sight. There is a bit of drone at highway speeds, and in an enclosed home garage the drone is amazingly loud. Just an idea that you may want to go with to fit a muffler in there.

I fit a 6" round 18" long Magnaflo under the rear of my 'Baron. When they were putting it on I didn't like how low it was under the car so I had them "modify" the car so it is more out of site(nothing a hammer and a torch can't take care of!). The car sounds(when it runs) awsome!

Since the Magnaflow has been mentioned as being relatively quiet, how about the 7" Round version, 2.5" IN /2.5" OUT, Dual Outlet, Length - 27",Overall - 33", Part Number - 13761. Would that still be relatively drone free?
