I would think upstream of the turbo would be the preferred position, without a doubt. Besides the response time being much slower after the turbo, it would read cooler. How much cooler is something someone else could say, but think how much work that exhaust gas has done by compressing the intake charge, and how much the exhaust gas has expanded by that time. That makes it cooler. If 100 degrees is the difference between happy pistons and melted pistons, I'd make it worthwhile by putting the probe in the right place.
